COMEDY: GAVIN AND STACEY

Friday November 21,2008

What, When & Where 9.30pm, BBC1

COMEDY: Gavin And Stacey

The series about how a nice boy from Essex and a sweet girl from Barry in south Wales fell in love and married has been an astounding success and won a stash of prestigious awards for writers James Corden and Ruth Jones, who also star in the show as Smithy and Nessa.

Following its BBC3 airing this year, BBC1 is giving fans and those who missed this comedy gem first time around the opportunity to view the second series in which newlyweds Gavin and Stacey (Mathew Horne and Joanna Page) return from honeymoon to a big welcome from both families and adjust to married life.

Smithy seems none too pleased with best mate Gavin, however, and a confession by Nessa throws the evening’s celebrations into disarray.

With eight million of us tuning in each night to see Ant and Dec present the latest instalment from Oz, this year’s contestants are no doubt wondering what they’ve let themselves in for.

With kangaroo testicles and crocodile eyeballs as the dish of the day earlier this week – when glamour model Nicola McLean romped, sorry, chomped her way to victory – we eagerly await the stomach-churning challenges to come.

Tonight we vote for the celebrity who should face the next bushtucker trial.

COMEDY: THE IT CROWD

Friday November 21,2008

What, When & Where 10pm, C4

COMEDY: The IT Crowd

Some much-needed humour wings its way to Channel 4, courtesy of this award-winning sitcom, back for a third series.

Once again the dysfunctional employees are out of their comfort zone – the dull and dingy IT department of Reynholm Industries – and facing some awkward predicaments.

Tonight, Roy and Jen (Chris O’Dowd and Katherine Parkinson) confront some difficult builders, while Moss (Richard Ayoade) reveals he’s a victim of bullying and learns how to stand up for himself. Brilliantly funny.
